Abigail Shimer has her BS and MA in history and is currently working on her PhD. Her recent professional interests include the history of childhood and the Jim Crow South. Ms. Shimer has presented at conferences in Chowan, NC, New Orleans, LA, and Lynchburg, VA on a variety of topics including public perception of Marie Antoinette, Walt Disney in Cold War America, and Mildred Lewis Rutherford in the Jim Crow South. She has instructed US history courses for two years. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking the mountains of Virginia and more recently the trails at Guildford Courthouse National Park.
